Pineapples grow on a tropical plant with spiky leaves, and each plant produces only one fruit at a time. The fruit is actually a composite of multiple berries fused together. Sweet, tangy, and juicy with a tropical aroma. The core is firmer and less sweet than the flesh. The Sugarloaf pineapple is a premium variety known for its exceptional sweetness and low acidity.

The core of the Sugar Loaf pineapple is notably firm and tart, making it advisable to remove it before incorporating the fruit into desserts. Interestingly, while the core is not as sweet as the flesh, it is the part that contains bromelain.

Sugar Loaf pineapples can be stored for approximately one week, provided they maintain their sweet aroma and show no signs of fermentation. To preserve their quality, keep them at room temperature in a fruit bowl. Avoid refrigerating them, as temperatures below 8°C may lead to fermentation.
